What makes a decision great is not that it has a great outcome. A great decision is the result of a good process. Annie Duke. Thinking in Bets.

This line captures precisely why I do what I do.I grew up in a household shaped by gambling addiction. It was an unfortunate and challenging experience, but it taught me something powerful: to think about life as a series of bets. From a young age, I learned to assess my position, understand the dynamics around me, and consider the potential consequences, often without realizing it.

Every choice we make is a bet with outcomes that impact not just us, but everyone around us:\

Who we hire

What job do we take

What project do we say yes to

Who we partner withE

Every decision carries risk:

⏳ Time — our most limited, non-renewable resource

💸 Money — often invested with incomplete or subjective information

🧠 Mental & Physical Health — stress, burnout and physical risks.

While my life isn’t perfect, it’s pretty good. That early risk awareness helped me recognize patterns and opportunities and shaped my entrepreneurial path. I became a 3x founder, starting with New Media Links in 1998, when the internet was new and I was recently divorced. I’ve been betting on myself and others ever since.

This way of thinking helped me recognize and benefit from the tremendous value and opportunity of the Role-based assessment. That led my team and me to build CollabGenius to helps people make better bets on themselves and each other.

Whether hiring, joining a team, or launching something new, you place a bet.And just like Annie Duke says, great outcomes start with a great process.
